About Us

Rotary Club of Cape Town

Our mission and principles

Since our charter in April 1925, the Rotary Club of Cape Town has led numerous initiatives that have significantly impacted our community.

Among our notable milestones are the founding of the Cape Town Community Chest in 1927, the establishment of the first Dental Clinic, and our contributions to the development of early traffic regulations.

Our commitment to service has also fostered cherished traditions, such as ‘Carols by Candlelight’ in 1951 and the founding of the Cape Point Nature Reserve Society. Over the years, our influence has expanded, from transferring patients to Groote Schuur Hospital in 1938 to providing support during World War II.

We proudly sponsor neighboring Rotary clubs, and our dedication remains steadfast, demonstrated by our 100% support for the Rotary Foundation Fellowship and our cultural contributions, including hosting the inaugural ‘Guest Conductor’ for the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra at the Dick Friedlander Memorial Concert.

At the Rotary Club of Cape Town, we are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community and beyond.
