Adventure into citizenship 2015

Adventure into citizenship 2015

Program Started on the morning of 28th June at 9am with a pick up of 2students from Upington.
Between 3-5pm all students were on venue and participated in a few icebreaking activities then supper at 6pm was followed by Barne Dance organised by claremont Rotaract which was so much enjoyed by the students.
Monday begun with a Brief introduction and welcome by Rtn.Beata Gelderblaum(president Capetown Rotary) then a visit to parliament to learn about it's functions.Later we visited UWC and learnt alot about it's status and ground breaking breakthroughs in research
-Supper at Hostel was followed by Art JAmming at Waterfront which was organised by wynberg Rotary club and everyone enjoyed.

Tuesday
Visit to Western Cape High organised by Rtn.Thembalihle Sidaki from Pinelands Rotary and Judge president John Hlope introduced them to the court system followed by a guided tour of the National library.
-Excquisite Lunch at Inn on the square @ Green market square.Great lunch,excellent vibe and everyone ate to the best their abilities.Big thanks to Linda Steel(Ass.gen.manager-inn on the square)
-After the heavy lunch,we headed to MTN science centre in observatory and students did a few experiments.
Gardening in Lavendar Hill at Zirelda Park primary school where we cleared a garden and planted alot of vegetables with help from Sandy(dir. soil for life)
- lunch at Century City and Tour of intaka Island.exploring the balance between modernity and environmental balance/awareness
-supper at Hostel followed by talk district youth service(Gavin Schachat,jenny Howard,lee bergman,Justin schoenegevel) talking about different Rotary programs

thursday
-Visit to Christine Revell Childrens Home in Athlone which has kids abondoned or got from abusive home.Students played and interacted with kids
-Lunch at UCT
- Meeting with UCT admissions office where students learn about UCT and how to apply.
- African Drumming with Micheal Thorne

Friday

-Visit to Chris Barnard Heart Museum inspiring to many including aspiring doctors.
-Tour of Mayors office and council chambers led by Mayco member Belinda Walker
-Lunch at Mayors parlour
-bowling in Claremont organised by Wynberg Rotaract which was very fun.

Program brought together 51 students from 20 Rotary clubs and 26 schools.Thanks to all all Rotary clubs for supporting the program
